Hearing ‘I’m so lucky to have you’, ‘you are adorable’, ‘you are sweet’, or any other compliment can make someone’s whole day. No matter what the compliment is or by who the appreciation is, it can change a person’s whole mood.

Sometimes you just want to know that you matter to someone. Sometimes you just want to know that someone cares. Sometimes you just want to know that someone appreciates you. And there is nothing wrong in it; everyone needs a little assurance in their life. The only problem is that we seek that assurance from someone else. We don’t give that assurance to ourselves. Why is it so hard to self-appreciate? Why is it so hard to think that you are good enough? Why do we need someone else to tell us how good we are? Honestly, I don’t have the answers.

The only answer I have is that everyone has insecurities and we should help each other overcome these insecurities. Not everyone can overcome insecurities on their own; they need a little help from others. No one is going to directly ask you for help but if you listen and observe you’ll realise. In the process of helping each other to believe in ourselves, we need to encourage each other by appreciating each other.

Is it really that hard to say a few good things to someone? No, it isn’t. Take just two minutes from your day to tell someone what they mean to you, how good they are or anything else which is good. You don’t know what kind of a day a person is having. If it’s a good day, then your compliment will make it better. If it’s a bad day, it will turn into a good day. If you don’t want to compliment them, then at least let them know that you love them and care for them. These few words have the power of making someone smile and uplifting their mood.

Let’s make someone you love, happy today.
